Driving in Style

Now this has been all over the net but I still had to post it. I love this idea. A 727 turned into a limo. I imagine this takes some practice to drive but showing up in this would shock your friends. I am still looking for some images of the inside of this thing as it is supposed to have a dance floor and bar and lounge area. This is 60 feelt long and I imagine quite impressice to see driving around town.

I have always thought it would be cool to take an old 747 body and turn it into an office complex. Not sure where I would put this as neighbors I am sure would not like it. All polished up to a mirror finish.

Interesting things in Japan

There sure are some interesting things going on in the world of cars in Japan. This link will take you to a forum post that has lots and lots of images of some of the crazy things that people do to their cars and vans over in Japan. This is certainly not the "tuner" crowd but a whole other element over there.

Again... run away season

They claim that it will not be another run away season but so far it looks like just that. Schumacher won his 4th straight race this season. He did not take the pole but managed to get the win anyway. Between the great car and his skills it looks like this season could be over before the last race.

Nice harness.. wow.. look at the price!!

Looking at harnesses and thought that it would be nice to get a Japanese harness to go with my japanese seat but then I took a look at the price. This is a nice one but for $360 I think I will have to pass for now.

It was not clear from what I had found if there was an official importer for these. I am certainly going to keep an eye on ebay for these but for now they are out of my range...

JIC Sport Seats

Checked out some seats today and had these recomended to me. They are made by a Japanese company that makes suspension and other accessories. They look pretty good and will take the harness system that I would like to have in the car.

This company seems to be a new entry into the seat market. It will be interesting to see how they do since the big names seem to be Recaro, Sparco and Bride in the high end seats.

Toyota Rally Car

Saw this car in a post on t he matrixusers forum and thought it was quite interesting. I am surprised that Toyota has not gotten into the Rally market earlier. Will be interesting to see if this really comes out. I know people use Rally cars that are Toyota made but as Subaru and Mitsubishi are showing consumers like the style of car so to be able to purchase one woudl be a dream for many.

Car seats

Well I am looking for some new car seats. I have always wanted to have some racing seats in my car with a 3 or 4 point harness but never had a car that would not look stupid with them.

I have been looking at the Sparco seats above but not sure that I can afford them. They are certainly not cheap. I have also been checking out the Tenzo seats below.

For the price of one Sparco I can get a set of Tenzo seats. I am sure the Sparco seats are better quality but since I am not racing I am not sure it is worth the extra money. Will have to go check into this some more..

Also trying to figure out how to mount the harness in my car. That should be a challenge.

iPod in the car..

Well I was going to use the cassette adaptor that I had but the car stereo did not seem to like that. I am back to trying to figure out what to use in the car. I am not sure if the adaptor is broken or this stereo just doesn't like them. In any event I would have to purchase a new one and I am not sure if I should try one of those radio transmitter things or get another adaptor.

I have looked at the Belkin one that supposidly has a digital tuner built into it. It looks like it could work pretty well but it is hard to tell. I have not seen any reviews on it so far but that one is of interest. The iTrip also looks pretty cool but that one has gotten both good and bad reviews. Not sure what to think.

If we head out today I may take a look as I also need to pickup an apple care package for the ibook which has its warranty expiring this month.

Car upgrades

Well I am having fun with the new car. It has been a few years since I had a manual transmission car and I did miss it. The first thing that I needed to change was the shift knob. It had way to much chrome for my taste. I also went for some new pedals.

Hit a shop in Costa Mesa that sells lots of Japanese car accessories and found a nce Razo shift knob. This one is nice and simple. I have heard that some have concerns about not having the shift pattern on the top of the knob since this has a non standard pattern but since I can not afford vallet parking anyway I do not think that it will be a problem.. I also picked up some nice racing pedals at the same store. I will try and get some shots to post here soon.
